BELLS BOOKS AND BINDINGS -- A date [27 Feb] for Ringing Booklovers
It is twelve years since the Library Committee held an outreach event and this one will be different!
We particularly want to meet Guild/Assoc/Society Librarians and for them to meet one another, plus the Friends, and anyone interested in ringing publications, including CDs, DVDs, ephemera - so not only books.
The programme includes:
- John Eisel, Library Steward, talking about "Ringing Periodicals - the communication and competition between ringers"
- Chris Ridley (Librarian ASCY) will be updating his thinking on "The Future Role of Libraries - keeping them alive"
- Roger Barnes (Church Green Books) will be giving "The Book Trade perspective - including the impact of "printed to order" rare editions"
- Ian Self will talk about the publications achieved through the support of the Friends of the Library
Plenty of time will be allowed for people to share their own treasures and visit the stalls.
There will be advice on binding and cleaning books by Anthony Bianco, Valuations by Roger Barnes of Church Green Books, the CC Library committee selling its wares, a display on "Big Ben - the great clock and bells at Westminster" by Chris McKay and a "Bring & Buy" book exchange run by Alan Glover. The latter is to encourage people to bring along their 'Wants lists' and duplicate books (eg single volumes written by Frederick Sharpe, Ranald Clouston, J W Clarke etc.).
