learn2ring is intended to be a recruit/beginner
friendly website as part of an up to the minute comprehensive recruitment and
training scheme in the art of bellringing.
The training scheme is intended to be a voluntary scheme.
There is no intention to make it compulsory, or for there to be any
qualifications for instructors or ringers. We feel that such a move would be
counter productive, and the scheme can make a significant impact on the state
of the exercise without going down this route.
The primary objective is to increase the amount and
quality of ringing training that takes place, by making it much more attractive
for people to become involved in training ringers, and providing them with a
ready made package of teaching material. Such people may be existing ringers,
lapsed ringers or even non-ringers who wish to become involved in setting up a
band at their local tower.
Whilst the training scheme was originally intended to
help develop more Ringing Centres,
the material could be used in any tower or training setting.
These temporary webpages are
intended to explain how the complete training package would work
As the whole package would be designed and developed over
a period of time, the final content and appearance will vary with the input
received from contributors
How can you help?
It is proposed that the scheme be developed
collaboratively by various Central Council Committees, and other interested
individuals, perhaps with significant external financial support, channelled
through the
There would need to be some form of steering group or
forum, and conferences or workshops would be held from time to time in order
for contributors to get together and discuss the development of the package on
a face to face basis. However, in this modern age, electronic communication
would be used to speed up the process and only hold meetings when necessary.
We want as many people to be able to contribute to the
package as possible. That way the scheme is most likely to command the widest
support in the ringing community at large.
In addition to people with practical experience of the
recruitment of training ringers, input would particularly welcome from people
with skills in graphic and web design, together with contributions in the form
of good quality photographs, cartoons and video sequences.
