It takes about six hours of lessons to learn to ring a bell on your own. It takes at least as long again, just to learn to ring rounds in time with the rest of the team.

It takes considerably longer to learn call-changes, plain hunting and methods.

Most teams have a regular weekly practice, but you would need to get up to the rounds stage before you will be able to join in.

Lessons are normally arranged on a 1:1 basis, or as part of a small group with an instructor. The more frequent the lessons, the quicker you will learn. Lessons are often held before the main practice, or else on a separate night.

Sometimes intensive lessons are arranged, where you can learn to handle a bell in a week, or a weekend.
