Network for Ringing Training (NRT)

A new initiative to support those who train ringers.

[Cartoon]

What is NRT?

The Network for Ringing Training (NRT) is a communication service dedicated to supporting those who wish to improve the quality of ringing training by improving their own skills or by helping other ringers to develop their ability as trainers. NRT is provided by the Central Council Education Committee

Cartoon by Yvonne Hall

Objectives

To help promote excellence in bell ringing performance by developing and encouraging high standards of ringing training To achieve this, the Network will:
  1. provide a communication service dedicated to the needs of those who train ringers
  2. disseminate information relevant to the training of ringers
  3. stimulate activities focussed on the development of training skills
The Network is intended to help raise the profile of training as a distinct activity within ringing and to lead to higher quality ringing in our towers, with more satisfaction for ringers at large.

What has NRT done?

NRT has been in operation since it was launched at the 2001 Ringing RoadShow. It already has over 200 subscribers and has had several months of lively discussion on diverse training related topics via the e-mail list and postal summaries. Three courses have so far been promoted through NRT.

What happens next?

NRT is still developing and how it continues to develop will depend on the needs of those ringing trainers who join it, take part and make their needs and ideas known to the rest of us. We hope that it will help to stimulate local activity, which is why NRT can put its subscribers in touch with other who are near to them, but perhaps not known to them. The CC Education Committee ran an NRT conference in November 2002 and another is planned for May 2004.
