This is the online version of Dove's Guide for Church Bell Ringers, the definitive source for information about rings of bells since the first printed edition appeared in 1950. The site provides full-featured searching, links to mapping facilities to show the exact location of towers, satellite navigation data, and details of changes to entries as they occur. Its scope has been extended by the addition of data for individual bells as a step towards a prototype National Bell Register (the 'proto-NBR').

2 Nov Re-countification
As previously announced, we have now implemented the names outlined in the revised version of our proposal document. As antipcated, there have been a few changes to the DoveID primary key for certain towers.

14 Oct Metric Dove
RW2008/p1059 included a letter advocating metric presentation of bell weights. By starting from the Search facility and choosing kg in the tenor section, it is now not only possible to get one or many tenor weights shown in kg (or just lb) but, thanks to some additional work by Sid, when moving to a selected Details page all entries in the bells table will also be presented in those same units. (Going direct to a Details page, ie, NOT starting from a Search, will result in their conventional presentation as cwt-qr-lb.) pNBR submissions are unaltered, ie, in imperial units.
